Tembo Update #3
You are recieving this email because you either joined the Tembo mailing list or waitlist (formerly CoreDB), or you have signed up for an account. Feel free to unsubscribe if you're not interested in what we're building :)
It's been a busy month behind the scenes at Tembo! Read about the highlights in this update, or even better, sign into cloud.tembo.io and see the progress yourself :)
We'll be rolling out pricing at some point, but big future discounts are available for potential design partners (where you give us regular feedback on product). Interested? Reply to this email, let's talk!
So what's new in Tembo Cloud?
Vector Stack — This new addition to the Stack lineup automates the creation, update, and management of embeddings, and can implement vector search with as little as two function calls.
Custom App Deployments — The Postgres ecosystem is full of applications and services built by the community and designed to run alongside your Postgres database. Tembo now allows you to bring your own custom applications and deploy them right next to your database.
RestAPI — Speaking of app deployments, you can now deploy PostgREST as a service on Tembo. This means that you only need a database schema to generate a comprehensive and secure REST API without layers of additional code.
GraphQL — But wait there's more! You can also get GraphQL (powered by pg_graphql and available via API) which allows you to request exactly what you need from your data (and nothing more) from a single endpoint, resulting in faster and more efficient applications.
Custom Domains — We're continuing to give you better options for customizing your deployments—you can now brand your Tembo database URLs with your domain.
IP Allow List — We're constantly working to improve the security and controls within Tembo. As of this month, you now can restrict database access by IP.
Point in Time Restore — Mistakes happen, and sometimes you really need to go back. Now you can restore your database to any time in the past 30 days from the UI.
Postgres Settings — Postgres is at the heart of everything we do, so it makes sense to put it front and center. This month we rolled out the ability to change Postgres config parameters through via both UI and through the API. Is there a parameter missing that you'd like to have? Share it with the team in our Slack Community.
Updated Instance Details — We also revamped the instance detail pages, giving you an improved design, more metrics, and overall health status visibility for your instance.
Coming Soon...
Data Warehouse Stack — Data silos suck. We're building the capability for you to pull data from a source of your choice without the need for external ETL tools, as well as enabling high performance analytics queries via columnar storage.
Vector Search App — If you have data in Postgres, you shouldn't have to move it just to be able to do interesting things. Soon, Tembo will let you use vector search on your exsting OLTP database. Want to use other embedding models besides Open.ai? You can do that too.
Standard Alerts & Notifications —Wouldn't it be great if your database would tell you when something important happens? We think so too. Soon we'll be rolling out alerts and notifications for key events to make it easier for you stay on top of what's happening.

Food for Thought
We recently saw this article by Zain Rizavi from Ridge Ventures, and we couldn't agree more. After all, we've been believers in the idea of "Postgres for everything" for a long time now.
The tide is turning, and for good reason:
The walled garden of AWS/RDS/Aurora? Too expensive.
Proprietary open core "solutions?" They end up giving more limitations than they do solutions.
The state of the modern data stack? Developers need options that require less database management, not more.
Zain is right—a Postgres renaissance has begun, and we're excited for what the future holds.
